Sockies – Two Socks on Two Circs
When I bop around the internet (just causing trouble… heh heh) … I love to read how other knitters deal with knitting socks.
There’s the top-down knitters.
There’s the toe-up knitters. (that’s me)
And then there’s the ridiculously anal-retentive types that like to do two at a time.. and even match up the most difficult striping so that both the sockies match. (that’s me, too) lol
If you look at the socks above (and I realize this isn’t the best pic)… you’ll see that the stripes match.
In order to do this, a nutjob… err… meticulous knitter must first unravel a massive pile of yarn out of the skeins to line up the coloring of the yarn to match. Then… for me anyway… it’s done toesies first… with both socks being knit at that same time… spread across two 24″ circular needles.
Ok.. the pic above is great if you just want to ooogle over those popcorn bobbles.
I guess I need to take another pic tomorrow.. so show the obsessive striping match-up.
Obsessive is good sometimes… I got a blue ribbon on this pair at the county fair.
Oh.. before I ditch outta here for the night… these were done with Opal Yarn. Love the stuff.
There’s OPAL SOCK YARN on AMAZON.
Then a quick little search brings up MORE SOCK YARN choices at JOANN.COM.
And if that’s not enough…. be sure and check out this ULTIMATE KNITTING ORGANIZER (it’s my “mothership” where all of my needles and notions can come home to roost! Now… if you don’t like the emblem on this bag… c’mon.. you’re crafty. Make something outrageously cool and personal to slap on over it!
I just wanna be clear… I like to fish. I like to fish A LOT. Here in Colorado, having Bass Pro Shops stuff is a status symbol of sorts… but if you just can’t stomach that, that’s cool. lol … But honestly.. this isn’t my go-out-in-public-with-my-knitting-bag… this is just a great bag to keep all of my knitting stuff together. Hundreds of dollars worth of cable needles, darning needles, point savers, measuring tapes, knitting markers and counters, and especially… my circs. They all deserve a nice place to stay clean and organized.
And … honestly… have you ever seen *anything* in the knit shops that actually can perform that function? I haven’t.
Thank goodness for BassPro.
The next time I start another pair of something-or-anothers, I’ll post pics to show how that two sockies on two circs works.
Toodles for now,
Sally aka:RipStitcher
